At the eleventh hour, Pope Francis opted out of attending the Way of the Cross Easter ceremony in Rome, citing concerns about his health, the Vatican disclosed.
In a statement, the Vatican indicated, “In the interest of safeguarding his well-being for the upcoming vigil and Easter Sunday mass, Pope Francis will observe the Way of the Cross at the Coliseum this evening from the Saint Martha Residence.”
