Police in Lagos arrest over 50 individuals and demolish shanties following clash among hoodlums

Confirmation has been made by the Lagos State Police Command regarding the apprehension of more than 50 individuals linked to a clash in the Ile-Epo area.

An earlier report by NewsNow highlighted a confrontation between hoodlums in the market located in the Ile-Epo area, which started on Wednesday night and extended until Thursday morning.

These troublemakers reportedly ignited a fire in the market, resulting in the destruction of merchandise and other valuable items.

Nonetheless, the Lagos Command, through a statement delivered by its spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that peace has been restored to the area.

The statement conveyed, “A total of fifty suspects have been apprehended, and the shanties they were occupying have been demolished, effectively dispersing them.”

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has instructed the swift prosecution of the detained hoodlums and also cautioned that any individual disrupting the peace will face severe consequences in accordance with the law,” the statement continued.

Additionally, it was stated, “As of now, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, Area Commander Alagbado, and other Divisional Police Officers within the Area Command are present to prevent any further breach of peace.”
