Police in Kebbi Arrest 6 Individuals Suspected of Raping Minors


In Kebbi State, the police have detained six individuals on suspicion of sexually assaulting underage victims.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Samuel Musa, made this known during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi.

According to Musa, “On August 17 at approximately 1:00 p.m., Ahmed Muhammed of Koko town in Koko-Besse Local Government Area (LGA) reported that his 16-year-old daughter left home and headed towards an unknown location.

“After investigation, she was found in a place within Koko town and she revealed that she had been violated by five individuals.

“She disclosed that Suleiman Abubakar, Yunusa Garba, Suleiman Hamza, Yahaya Abubakar, and Shamsudden Muhammed, who all reside at the same address, enticed her to their homes on separate occasions and engaged in sexual intercourse with her.

“The suspects have been apprehended and will face charges in court once the investigation concludes,” Musa stated.

Musa also mentioned that Yusha’u Adamu reported a similar incident involving his niece and the same suspects.

He said, “On August 21 at around 9 p.m., Yusha’u Adamu of Aleiro town reported that his 10-year-old niece was violated by Saidu Sani, who also resides at the same address.

“After the assault, he threatened to kill her if she ever revealed the secret.”

Musa added, “Furthermore, on July 24 at approximately 10 a.m., based on intelligence, the police arrested Hauwa Suleiman from Babbar Dogo Village in Maru LGA, Zamfara, for possessing 566 rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition,” as quoted by NAN.
