In a brave encounter with suspected bandits, the police successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt, rescued victims, and recovered motorcycles and rustled animals in Katsina State.

According to ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the Police Spokesman in the Katsina Command, the Kankara divisional headquarters received a distress call around 2:30 AM regarding the movement of suspected bandits from Hayin Gada, Malumfashi LGA, where they had kidnapped a 65-year-old man named Hashim Yusuf.

Upon receiving the intelligence report, police operatives swiftly responded to the situation. They encountered a group of heavily armed bandits with dangerous weapons like AK-47 rifles attempting to flee the area with their victim near Ruwan Lafiya village, via Kankara Sheme road, Kankara LGA.

A fierce gun battle ensued, with the police displaying exceptional courage to ensure the safety of the innocent hostage. Eventually, they overwhelmed the bandits and rescued the victim unharmed.

ASP Sadiq revealed that during a search of the area, the police recovered 94 cows, 17 sheep, and two motorcycles. The police are currently searching the nearby bushes for any possible bodies of neutralized bandits, as the criminals escaped with bullet wounds.

The Katsina Police Commissioner, CP Aliyu Musa, commended the officers’ bravery, commitment, and dedication to their duty. He also urged the people of the state to remain vigilant and report anyone seen with a bullet wound to the nearest police divisional headquarters for necessary action,” said Sadiq.
