Police Detain 50 Individuals in Nasarawa During Protests

50 individuals have been detained by the Police Command in Nasarawa State for their alleged involvement in attacking police officers and causing disturbances to public order amidst the ongoing protests.

Confirming the arrests in an interview in Lafia on Thursday, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, disclosed that the arrests comprised 25 individuals in Lafia, 16 in Karu, six in Keffi, and three in Mararaba-Udege within Nasarawa Local Government Areas.

Nansel mentioned that the arrested suspects are presently in police custody for further interrogation and investigation.

The police spokesperson reassured the public that the disruptive behaviors displayed by some protesters earlier in the day were successfully contained by the police and other security agencies.

He emphasized that law enforcement authorities would continue to handle the situation with professionalism to safeguard public safety.

Nansel issued a stern warning to those contemplating provoking disorder under any guise, making it clear that such actions would not be condoned, and that the legal consequences would be enforced.

He encouraged the public to carry on with their daily routines without intimidation, underscoring the police force’s commitment to upholding law and order.
