Phyna Turns Down N13m Offer, Demands 1 BTC and Maldives Trip

After clinching the title of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner in 2022, Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has refused a N13 million offer from one of the reality show’s sponsors, Quidax. Phyna has been vocal about the incomplete prizes promised by the organizers and sponsors.

Despite Quidax committing to awarding Phyna 1 BTC as part of her winnings, they have failed to fulfill this pledge even two years later. In response to Phyna’s recent public criticism, they approached her with a N13 million compensation, claiming it equated to the value of 1 BTC in 2022 when the commitment was made.

In a video message shared on her social media platform, Phyna disclosed that she turned down the monetary offer and insisted on receiving the 1 BTC, which is now valued at over N90 million. Additionally, she demanded that the reality show organizers and sponsors provide her with the promised trip for two to Maldives.

Emphasizing her stance, Phyna stated, “I am firm on redeeming my Maldives vacation for two. I am anticipating the Maldives tickets. I am not interested in Kenya or Morocco as alternate destinations. I can self-finance a trip to Kenya or Morocco if I choose to visit these places.” She continued, “Quidax mentioned offering me N13 million based on the 2022 rate of 1 BTC. However, when I cross-checked, the value of 1 BTC in November 2022 was around N19 million, opposed to their claim of N13.8 million. If I had received my 1 BTC in 2022, I would currently have approximately N96 million. By offering me N13 million now, what happens to the losses I incurred over the past two to three years?”
