Peter Obi Urges Tinubu to Address Nigerians Amid Nationwide Protest

Amid the ongoing nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest, Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate for the 2023 general election, has called upon President Bola Tinubu to address the nation and ease the current tensions across the country.

Commenting on the protest and the demands put forth by the demonstrators from his residence in Onitsha, Anambra State, Obi emphasized the importance of the president addressing the nation and meeting the legitimate demands of the people.

Referring to a video that purportedly showed him in Abuja on the first day of the protests, the former Anambra State governor stated, “I am currently in Onitsha; it is impossible for me to be in both places at once.”

Regarding the protesters’ demands, Obi acknowledged their legitimacy but stressed the need for these demands to be pursued through lawful means.

Expressing his appeal for the president to directly engage with the nation, Obi mentioned, “It is the President whom the people have elected, entrusted with their mandate, and he should personally communicate with the people during such critical times, rather than relying on aides or appointees.”

Additionally, Obi extended his condolences to the families of those who tragically lost their lives during the protest, as well as to the injured individuals and those who suffered property damage.
