PDP Criticizes APC Government Led by Tinubu for Damaging Nigerian Economy; PDP States Fuel Price Should Be N150 Per Litre

Following the recent increase in the pump price of fuel from N534 to N617 per litre, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government.

In a statement, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, expressed outrage at the new price, describing it as provocative. The party emphasized that the removal of subsidy on petroleum products, coupled with the country’s refining capacity, should result in a fuel price of N150 per litre.

The party insisted that the N617 per litre fuel price is excessive and unjustifiable. It criticized the APC administration for neglecting the welfare of Nigerians, leading to economic instability, plummeting currency value, and the shutdown of businesses and production.

The PDP also attributed the dire economic situation to APC’s insensitivity, corruption, cluelessness, and inability to effectively manage the nation’s economy.

Faulting the governing party’s justification for the fuel price hike, the PDP stressed the indefensibility of the new price regime, considering the differences in infrastructure, transportation systems, currency strength, and citizen’s earnings compared to other countries.

The party argued that even without the subsidy on petroleum products, innovative management of resources and national comparative advantage should keep the fuel price below N150 per litre in Nigeria.
