Get to know Iran’s Acting President, Mohammad Mokhber
Following the unfortunate demise of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash in Iran’s northwest, Vice President Mohammad Mokhber was appointed as the Acting President of the Islamic Republic on Monday.
The announcement of Raisi's death was quickly followed by Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declaring Mokhber as the country’s Acting President.

At around 68 years old, Mr. Mokhber assumed the role of First Vice President of Iran in August 2021.
Hailing from Khuzestan Province in Iran’s southwest, bordering Iraq and the Persian Gulf, Mokhber previously served as a Deputy Governor and was a member of the Revolutionary Guards medical corps during the 1980s Iran-Iraq war.
