Outrage as Rivers State Governor condemns assault on his supporters by alleged troublemakers backed by outgoing council chairmen
In a statement that resonated with frustration, the Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara expressed deep concern on Thursday regarding the recent attacks on his supporters. These assaults were reportedly carried out by troublemakers who purportedly had the support of the state’s outgoing Local Government Council chairmen.
Addressing the issue during the official launch of the N80.3 billion, 33.5-kilometre Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Road dual carriageway and bridge project in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers, Fubara strongly denounced the violence. He is currently embroiled in a power struggle with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, and issued a stern warning that those responsible for attacking innocent citizens in the name of politics would not escape consequences.
