Yobe electoral commission reschedules local government election by two weeks
The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission, YOSIEC, has decided to postpone the local government council election originally planned for May 25, 2024.
Mamman Mohammed, the executive chairman of the state electoral commission, made the announcement during a press briefing held on Wednesday in Damaturu.
Addressing the media, Mamman Mohammed stated, “The initial election date of May 25, 2024, is no longer feasible. Due to logistical challenges and other factors that could hinder the smooth conduct of a free and fair local government council election in the state, it has become necessary to reschedule the election to June 8, 2024, which is two weeks later than the initial date.”
