Two Suspects Arrested by the Navy for Carrying 3,500 Litres of Petrol Bound for Cameroon

On Tuesday, the Nigerian Navy, Forward Operating Base (FOB), Ibaka, apprehended two individuals believed to be involved in oil theft. They were found transporting 3,500 litres of petrol in a wooden boat destined for Cameroon. During the handover of the suspects and seized items to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Ibaka, Capt. Uche Aneke, the Commanding Officer, revealed the details of the operation. The arrest took place at approximately 11:15 am on May 18 along the waterways following an intelligence report received by the navy base indicating possible smuggling activities in the area of operation. Between April 17 and May 17, 2024, the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone “B” Command in Kaduna, has intercepted a total of smuggled goods worth over N3.1 billion.
