386 civilians rescued by Army from Sambisa forest a decade after being abducted
The Nigerian Army has successfully rescued 386 individuals, predominantly women and children, from the confines of Sambisa forest a decade after their abduction.
Brig. Gen. AGL Haruna, the acting GOC 7 Division, disclosed this significant development while briefing the press on the outskirts of Sambisa forest in Konduga LGA following the return of the troops involved in the 10-day rescue operation.
Referred to as “Operation Desert Sanity 111,” the mission was devised to eliminate any remnants of terrorist factions within Sambisa forest and extend the opportunity for surrender to those inclined to do so.
Haruna emphasized, "Our primary objective is to eradicate all terrorist elements from Sambisa and offer a pathway to surrender for those who are willing."
