Youth’s Demand for Military Barrack in Disputed Area amidst Abia-Cross River Communal Clashes
A plea has been made by community leaders in Ukwa Eburutu community in Odukpani LGA of Cross River State, urging the Federal Government to establish a military barrack in the area to resolve the ongoing communal conflicts with the Isu people of Arochukwu LGA in Abia State.
It is believed that setting up a barrack would help put an end to the continuous claims and counterclaims from both sides regarding the vast deposits of limestone and other natural resources in the contested territory.
Expressing the community's stance, a youth leader named Samuel Inyang from Ukwa Eburutu questioned the Isu community's assertion of ownership over limestone in their land.
