Police Confirmation of Armed Attack That Resulted in 19 Deaths in Kogi State
The Kogi State Police command has officially verified the armed attack in Tawari community, resulting in the deaths of over 19 individuals and the burning of several structures, including the community's royal palace.
The attackers, suspected to be herdsmen, reportedly arrived in the village on motorcycles, carrying out killings and arson until the early hours of Friday, January 3. It is reported that the assailants, who also looted food supplies, communicated with each other in the Hausa language.
Hon. Musa Tanko Mohammed, the administrator of Kogi local government, confirmed the death toll of 19 people in the midnight invasion.
