Man Charged with New Year’s Day Double Murder of Estranged Wife and Her Lover
A husband has been accused of murdering his estranged wife and her new lover, both of whom were found stabbed to death on New Year’s Day.
39-year-old Helen Hancock was discovered dead with her 48-year-old partner, Martin Griffiths, at a property in the affluent village of Duffield, shortly after she had left her husband and was 'getting her life back together'.
In the days leading up to the gruesome knife attack, Helen had contacted Derbyshire Police for assistance at her residence.
Helen's estranged husband, Rhys Hancock, a 39-year-old headteacher, is scheduled to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on Friday morning (Jan. 3) to face charges for the double murder of his wife and her partner, who was a father of two.
