Ethiopia has declared a state of emergency to curb the spread of the Coronavirus within the country.
The announcement, made by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Wednesday, comes after extensive consultations with opposition politicians.
"Considering the seriousness of the COVID-19, the government of Ethiopia has implemented a State of Emergency in accordance with Article 93 of the Constitution,” he stated.
"This decision is not just for the present generation but also for our children. It is not only about the impact on Ethiopia today, but also a decision that will impact us tomorrow," he stressed.

Tragically, a child has lost her life as a result of a building collapse in Onitsha.
The incident occurred at No. 47 Modebe Street, Onitsha, Anambra state.
Reportedly, the collapsed portion of the building was the lintel attachment to an existing structure, as per Anambra Broadcasting Service.

Naira Marley's fans defy lockdown, storm court to show support to him (photos)
