UNN Undergraduate, 21, Allegedly Attempts Suicide Following Parental Scolding (Photo)

Reportedly, a 21-year-old undergraduate of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), Obasi Augustine Chukwuemeka, was intervened on January 7th from committing suicide in his home at Number 4 Alaba street, Ejigbo bus stop, Lagos state.   Spokesperson for the Lagos state police command, Bala Elkana, stated that an officer of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Security Corps raised the alert about Chukwuemeka's attempt, having tied a rope in preparation for suicide after being scolded by his parents.   Ejigbo Police Station's timely intervention averted the suicide attempt, leading to his rescue and subsequent hospitalization for medical assessment.

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended one Chukwujekwu Eziigbo, a 15-year-old boy, for stealing women's undergarments in the Olufe area of Ojo local government.   In a statement by Bala Elkana, the spokesperson of the state police command, it was revealed that Chukwujekwu confessed to stealing women's undergarments from various houses in Ojo and its environs for the past year. He then handed them over to the following female suspects for a certain amount: Chidima Obietuake (17 years old), Chikwaka Chidima Jemfe (17 years old), Gold Enyinnaya (23 years old), and Akomas Amarachi (26 years old), all from the Ilufe area in Ojo.   Bala stated that all the suspects have been arrested and admitted to the crime.
