After Detention, Shehu Sani Shares Ordeal of Being Thrown into Underground Cell
Shehu Sani has revealed the hardship he endured while under detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He was detained over allegations of extorting $25,000 from the Chairman of ASD Motors, Alhaji Sani Dauda. It was claimed that he promised to give the money to Chief Justice of Nigeria Ibrahim Muhammad to influence pending court cases, as well as to the acting Chairman of the anti-graft agency, Ibrahim Magu.
The former Senator, who was released on Thursday, asserted that his 30-day incarceration in EFCC's jail was unjust, unfair, and a violation of his fundamental rights.
Sani maintained that he was set up and alleged that the chairman of EFCC ordered for him to be placed in the underground cell.
