Christian Community Reacts to Revelation of Suicide Bomber’s Identity as Nathaniel Samuel

A 30-year-old suspected suicide bomber was arrested at the Sabon Tasha branch of the Living Faith Church on Sunday. The church, also known as Winners Chapel, is owned by Bishop David Oyedepo.   According to a statement released by the state police command spokesperson, DSP Yakubu Sabo, the suspected suicide bomber has been identified as Nathaniel Samuel.   There have been discussions on Twitter with some Nigerians questioning the authenticity of the name, claiming that no Christian would attempt to bomb a church.   Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister, expressed disbelief in the police statement, stating that anyone who believes the suspect's name is Nathaniel Samuel needs to have their head examined.     Below are reactions from other Nigerians.  ...

The refusal of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to register the non-profit organization of the Lesbian Equality and Empowerment Initiative has led to a lawsuit being filed against the commission at the Court of Appeal. Attack by Suspected Armed Militia Results in Beheading of Two Farmers in Taraba State

At a farm in Dapye village in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba state, two farmers were killed and beheaded by suspected armed militia over the weekend.   The assailants, believed to be Tiv militias from Benue State, crossed into the area and carried out the attack on the farmers while they were working on their farm.   Mr. Adigrace Daniel, the chairman of Wukari Local Government Area, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the area had been peaceful before this deadly attack.   The victims were identified as Simon Bala and Timothy Awe, and their killing has raised concerns about the security situation in the area.   Despite the confirmation of the incident by the police spokesman in Taraba state, DSP David Misal, no arrests have been made in connection with the attack.

Alleged Threat to Kano Law School Students by Male Villagers for “Teaching Their Wives to be Disrespectful”

Reports have emerged claiming that some men allegedly issued threats to flog students of Kano Law School who had visited villages in the state to educate women about their rights.   According to Lopetee, a Mental Health Advocate based in Kano, the women in the villages reported the students to their husbands.   It is alleged that the men accused the students of teaching their wives to be disrespectful and warned them never to return to their villages, threatening them with the possibility of being flogged.
