Court grants journalist, Agba Jalingo, N10m bail

Journalist and rights activist, Agba Jalingo, has been granted bail by Justice Sule Shuaibu of the Federal High court in Calabar, Cross River State.   Jalingo, the publisher of CrossRiverWatch, was arrested on August 22nd 2019, following a report alleging that Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, diverted N500 million belonging to the state. He is facing charges related to terrorism, treasonable felony, and attempt to topple the Cross River State government.   In granting the bail application, Justice Shuaibu set the bail bond at N10 million with one surety in like sum. Suspected Gunmen Attacks Kaduna Market

Seven persons have been allegedly killed inside Maro market in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State by suspected gunmen. The incident happened between 7pm to 8pm of Wednesday when the traders were closing from the market. The gunmen reportedly opened fire on them, killing seven people with unidentified number of innocent people injured. According to a source, the suspected killers on arrival at the market in a vehicle, shot sporadically. The reason for the attack is not known as according to the source, “immediately the gunmen alighted from their vehicle in the market, they started shooting sporadically. Visit of Borno State Governor to Victims of Recent Boko Haram Attack

Last night, Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, visited the victims of the recent Boko Haram attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State.   Shortly after President Buhari's sympathy visit, suspected Boko Haram members carried out a fresh attack on the residents of Damboa road around Maiduguri NNPC depot.   A rocket-propelled grenade, believed to have been launched by a Boko Haram insurgent from an unknown distance, struck a house in Jiddari, injuring the occupants.   The governor went to the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri, where the injured were admitted. He ordered the settlement of their medical bills.
