Cautions issued by NAFDAC – Refrain from cooking with paracetamol to avoid liver and kidney failure
The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has cautioned Nigerians against using paracetamol as a tenderiser while cooking meat and beans.
During a sensitisation programme for fast food operators and food vendors, Mrs. Roseline Ajayi, the NAFDAC coordinator in Kwara State, emphasized the dangers of using paracetamol to cook, stating that it can lead to kidney and liver failure.
Ajayi highlighted that paracetamol, which belongs to the class of drugs known as analgesic and anti-pyretics, is intended only for treating pain and fever.
