The African Women’s Player of the Year Award Goes to Asisat Oshoala at #CAFawards
Asisat Oshoala, a member of Super Falcons of Nigeria and FC Barcelona, emerged as Africa's top female footballer for the year 2019 at the CAF Player of the Year Awards held in Egypt on Tuesday night.
She secured the award by surpassing contenders Ajara Nchout of Cameroon and Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa.
Oshoala gained widespread attention in 2019 for her outstanding performance at Barcelona Femení, where she became the first African to score in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final.
She also made a significant contribution at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, scoring a goal that helped Nigeria advance to the knockout stages of the tournament.
