Ijeoma Malo: Off-grid Solar Energy a Viable Option Amid Electricity Tariff Increase in Nigeria
In a recent media roundtable in Abuja, Ijeoma Malo, the Chief Executive Officer of Clean Energy Tech Hub, emphasized the potential of off-grid energy solutions, particularly solar power, as a feasible alternative for Nigerians facing the recent surge in electricity tariffs.
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission endorsed a significant 240% increase in electricity tariffs for band A customers on April 3, 2024, who receive a minimum of 20 hours of power supply.
Addressing the ongoing developments in the country's energy sector, Malo highlighted the emerging balance brought about by the recent tariff increment.
She mentioned that the Clean Energy Tech Hub has collaborated with the Federal Government of Nigeria and Subnationals to formulate Renewable Energy Policy documents.
