Lagos Cracks Down on Violators of Environmental Laws – Over 3,000 Arrested
Recent findings from the Lagos State Government show that a total of 3,114 individuals were apprehended for disregarding various environmental regulations throughout the state in the past year.
Speaking at a press briefing in Ikeja, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, made this declaration on Friday.
This disclosure took place during the 2024 Ministerial Press Briefing, marking the commencement of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term in office.
Among the arrests made, 1,037 individuals were detained for illegally crossing highways and neglecting to utilize pedestrian bridges.
Wahab also reported that a clean-up operation was conducted, resulting in the evacuation of 165 miscreants and squatters inhabiting pedestrian bridges across the region.
