Outcry in Osun Community as Locals Rise Against Alleged Monarch Imposition

On Sunday morning, turmoil unfolded in the historic town of Ekosin, situated in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, following allegations of a traditional ruler being forcibly installed.

Reports obtained indicate that members of the Nyanbilolu Ruling House, a ruling faction, besieged key areas within the town and ignited burning tires in protest.

Resident eyewitnesses disclosed that they awoke to the sight of protests sparked by the recent conferment of the staff of office upon Kasali Olagunju by the Osun State Government as the Akosin of Ekosin.

Recalling events from Friday, it was the ruling houses, spearheaded by the Nyanbilolu Royal Family, that demonstrated against the unilateral appointment of Kasali Olagunju as Akosin of Ekosin.

In a statement articulated by their spokesperson, Kayode Asa, the ruling houses accused officials from the Ademola Adeleke administration of clandestinely designating Olagunju as Akosin.

They further alleged that the appointees of the Ademola Adeleke government brazenly misused their authority and acted irresponsibly.

Highlighting the disdain for rule of law, the ruling houses emphasized that the conduct of the political officials was a clear violation of legal standards.

Additionally, they disclosed that Olagunju does not belong to any of the ruling houses in the town and is instead an imposter.

Through Asa, the ruling houses issued demands which included, “The immediate withdrawal of the illegitimate conferral of instruments of office upon Kasali Olagunju.

“Respect for the judicial system by the state government and allowing the ongoing court proceedings to reach a conclusion as pledged earlier.

“The cessation of Kasali Olagunju’s portrayal as Akosin of Ekosin and a suspension of any privileges extended to him until the court ruling.

“Kasali Olagunju is not affiliated with the Nyanbilolu Ruling House, or any other ruling house in Ekosin, and should not be appointed as Akosin, setting an unfavorable precedent for future generations.”
