Osun Blacksmith Apprehended by Police for Producing Single-Barrel Guns

Authorities from the Osun State Police Command have apprehended a blacksmith and two individuals under suspicions of illegal possession of single-barrel firearms and ammunition.

In a statement released on Monday by the police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, it was revealed that Isaac Alagbe, aged 60, the blacksmith, was taken into custody in Ada, Boripe Local Government Area, on July 24, 2024. This was due to his involvement in the manufacture of single-barrel guns and the distribution of cartridges to potential criminals.

Additionally, two other suspects, namely Shina Bamgbose, 50, and Babatunde Oyebode, 22, were also apprehended alongside the blacksmith during a police operation.

According to Opalola, “Upon receiving intel on July 24, 2024, that Isaac Alagbe, alias ‘Ogun Kofeke,’ residing in Odo Amun community in Ada, was crafting single-barrel guns and supplying live ammunition to potential criminals, operatives from the Ikirun Division swiftly moved in. Two suspects, including the manufacturer and a customer, were apprehended. During the operation, a third suspect, arriving on a motorcycle with a Dane gun, was also detained.”

Following the arrests, a cache of items was discovered, including 10 single-barrel guns, a Dane gun, three live cartridges, a machete, occult materials, borings stored in small milk sachets, a master key, and various tools used in gun production.

Opalola mentioned that the suspects will undergo further investigation before facing legal charges in court.
