APC Prepares for Transparent Primary Election in Ondo

Getting ready to select the candidate for the November 16 governorship election, the Ondo chapter of the All Progressives Congress is about to kick off its governorship primary.

The Primary Election Committee, led by Kogi State Governor Mr. Usman Ododo, has reassured that the primary will be conducted fairly and openly.

The committee members are currently gathered at a hotel in Akure, the state capital, having an indoor meeting in preparation for the primary. Election materials are yet to be distributed with aspirants’ representatives and electoral officials waiting for the distribution to begin.

Following a meeting with aspirants at Saint Thomas’s Event Centre in Akure on Friday night, the Committee Secretary Senator Ovie Omo-Agege stressed the importance of ensuring the credibility of the primary without any bias.

Accreditation of the 172,025 eligible party members, whose membership has been revalidated, will commence between 10:00 and 11:00 am, with voting to start immediately afterward until 2:00 pm.

Senator Omo-Agege mentioned, “We anticipate a smooth and peaceful process. It’s a competition within the party. It’s not the general election. The key is that this is a progressive state, an APC state. We are committed to ensuring that after eight years of APC, we are paving the way for another eight years of APC administration.

“We are confident that whoever becomes our flag bearer will win the general election, and we have assured all aspirants that there should be no animosity.

“We don’t want post-exercise conflicts that could make it challenging to unite for victory during elections. Our goal is to have a fair and transparent process. That’s the only guideline we have been given.”
