A round of applause is in order for Tunde Onakoya, a distinguished chess master, for his remarkable feat of setting a new 60-hour chess marathon world record.
Commending his accomplishment, former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, drew inspiration from a biblical verse that underscores the boundless possibilities awaiting those who chase their dreams.
In a celebratory message on her X account, she penned, “And so it was. 1 Corinthians 2v9.
“However, as it is inscribed, no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.

“Your purpose-driven life will unlock all the necessary elements to manifest your aspirations for the present and future generations. Godspeed!”
Onakoya outshone the previous record set by Norwegian players Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad, who engaged in a 56-hour, 9-minute chess marathon in 2018.
Providing an update, Onakoya’s foundation, Chess in Slums Africa, penned, “60 Hours for those who dare to dream! 60 Hours for the countless children who have been discouraged from pursuing their dreams!

The esteemed new record holder mentioned that his objective was to raise funds and awareness to facilitate educational opportunities for underprivileged children across Africa.
