The arrival of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and his running mate Datti Baba Ahmed at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, was met with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd. The youths in the palace enthusiastically chanted “Okwute! Obi!” as Obi made his entrance with the Ooni of Ife. The visit took place approximately 24 hours before the official commencement of political campaigns. According to Sec. 94(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, public campaigns by political parties are scheduled to officially kick off on September 28th, 2022.
