Ogun State’s Efforts to Enhance Security on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State recently unveiled surveillance drones acquired by the state to be used on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The drones, operated by trained personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, aim to address criminal activities along the highway.

Additionally, the governor delivered 25 patrol vans to the state police force during a ceremony attended by Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Abiodun emphasized the importance of integrating technology into law enforcement strategies for effective crime prevention.

During his three-day visit to Ogun State, the Inspector General of Police engaged with local authorities to enhance security measures.

The acquisition of drones represents a collaborative effort between Ogun, Lagos, and Oyo states to bolster surveillance along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and improve emergency response capabilities.

In recognition of the police force’s dedication to maintaining law and order, Abiodun presented 25 patrol vans as a token of appreciation and support for their ongoing efforts.

He stated, “In our pursuit of peace and security, we will continue to invest in our Security Trust Fund and acquire cutting-edge technology, such as drones, to augment law enforcement operations.

“By improving the welfare and resources available to our security personnel, we aim to ensure a safer environment for all residents of Ogun State.”

Impressed by the IG’s initiatives to modernize the police force in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Abiodun advocated for the integration of advanced technologies in addressing national security challenges.

In response, Egbetokun outlined his vision for a highly skilled and service-oriented police force, pledging to establish more police stations and Area Commands in Ogun State while increasing personnel deployment.
