Odion Ighalo Ready to Forgo ₦2.6b (£6m) in Wages to Stay at Manchester United

Nigerian striker Odion is reportedly open to relinquishing £6m (₦2.6billion) from his salary with Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua, to secure a permanent move to Manchester United.

The former Watford and Udinese striker has made a significant impact since his unexpected January loan move from Shanghai Shenhua to Man United.

Odion Ighalo has scored four goals in eight appearances, and coach  Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been impressed by the Nigerian’s attitude in training and towards his teammates.

According to a report by The Sun, Ighalo is eager to stay at United permanently and is willing to take a £6 million pay cut to make the move permanent.

The Sun UK reported that Ighalo understands that United will not match his current £300,000 per week salary he earned in China and is ‘fine’ with significantly reducing his wage.

United might sign Ighalo on a permanent deal, but they will have to pay £15-£20 million, even though Shanghai Shenhua paid £5.27m to secure him from CC Yatai in 2019.
