Obaseki’s Bold Move: Edo Workers’ Minimum Wage Increased to N70,000

The minimum wage for workers in the Edo State civil service has been raised to N70,000 by Governor Godwin Obaseki, effective May 1, 2024.

At the commissioning of the Labour House for organized labor in the state on Monday, Obaseki announced this significant increase.

The building was named in honor of the former governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole.

Obaseki stated that his administration is raising the minimum wage for the state’s workers from N40,000 to N70,000.

Furthermore, he pledged to raise the monthly salary above N70,000 if the Federal Government approves a new minimum wage for its employees.

Details regarding the new minimum wage will be unveiled to the public during the Workers Day celebrations on May 1.
