NSCIA Encourages Muslims to Participate in Edo State Gubernatorial Election

Encouragement for Muslim followers to actively engage in the upcoming September gubernatorial election in Edo State has been issued by the Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).

During a stakeholders meeting held in Benin City on Sunday, NSCIA released a communique emphasizing the importance of Muslim representation in the state’s governance.

The state’s NSCIA chairman, Mallam Abdulazeez Igbinidu, emphasized the need for Muslim faithful to participate in politics to alter existing narratives and ensure a voice in the governance of the state.

In light of this, Igbinidu urged eligible Muslim voters to register in the upcoming Independent National Electoral Commission voter registration exercise to exercise their voting rights.

The purpose of the stakeholders meeting was to strategize on Muslim participation in the September 21 governorship election with a focus on achieving equity and fairness in governance representation within Edo State.

Emphasizing the apolitical nature of the Council, Igbinidu urged Muslim organizations to mobilize and educate their members on voter registration and active political engagement.

He highlighted the importance of unity among Muslims in the state, regardless of political preferences, under the umbrella of the Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs.

By fostering collaboration with political stakeholders, the Council aims to ensure the collective welfare of Muslims and all citizens of Edo State.
