NSCDC in Katsina Thwarts Bandits’ Attempt on Federal Silo

The Agro Rangers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps successfully defended the Federal Government’s grain silo in the Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State against an attack by suspected bandits.

On April 6, around 1 am, the bandits tried to sabotage the silo and kidnap its Manager, Mr. Lawal Shitu-Yar’adua, as stated by Mr. Buhari Hamisu, the NSCDC spokesperson in Katsina.

Reacting promptly, the Agro Rangers confronted the bandits in a fierce two-hour gun battle, ultimately overpowering them as they attempted to escape over the reserve’s rear fence with severe injuries.

The silo emerged unscathed, and the criminals failed in their malicious intent,” added the NSCDC spokesperson.

Hamisu further mentioned that additional personnel have been deployed to the site with enhanced firepower to forestall any future attacks.

The silo functions as a storage facility for grains destined for distribution in Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto states.

“The command remains steadfast in ensuring the safety and security of the people of the state and the nation at large, along with safeguarding crucial national assets and infrastructure,” he concluded.
