NSCDC Deployment: 35,000 personnel positioned nationwide for Easter

Ensuring the safety and security of citizens during the Easter celebrations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed a total of 35,000 personnel across the country. This information was disclosed in a statement released by the NSCDC spokesperson, CSC Babawale Afolabi, in Abuja on Thursday.

The Commandant-General of the corps, Ahmed Audi, has instructed Zonal Commanders and state Commandants to oversee the deployment activities within their respective jurisdictions.

Emphasizing the importance of tight security measures, Audi mentioned that the deployment aims to secure the nation before, during, and after the Easter festivities. In addition, the officers and men are tasked with the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure.

In light of the public holidays declared by the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for Friday and Monday to observe Easter, Audi directed various units within the NSCDC such as the anti-vandal unit, Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS), Transport and Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad, and Special Force, to maintain continuous surveillance.

Collaboration with other security agencies is also a key focus for the NSCDC to ensure a smooth and secure celebration. Audi encouraged the public to actively support the security agencies by providing timely and relevant information regarding any suspicious activities or individuals for prompt action.

As Christians prepare to celebrate Easter, Audi extended his felicitations to mark the successful conclusion of the Lenten season and the forthcoming Easter festivities.
