Rangers Coach, Ilechukwu: NPFL Title is Not Our Main Focus

In a recent statement, Fidelis Ilechukwu, the technical adviser of Rangers, emphasized that the team is not fixated on clinching the Nigeria Premier Football League title this season.

Currently leading the NPFL standings with 55 points from 32 games, the Flying Antelopes face stiff competition from contenders like Remo Stars and defending champions Enyimba.

According to Ilechukwu, these two clubs are better positioned in the title race.

Following their elimination from the 2024 President Federation Cup after a loss to Kano Pillars in the Round 64, Ilechukwu expressed his perspective on the team’s goals.

He reiterated, “It has been mentioned before, but I’ll say it again: our primary focus this season is not on winning the league title.”

He added, “Enyimba, Remo Stars, and others hold the upper hand.”

Reflecting on the disappointment of their early exit from the cup competition, Ilechukwu acknowledged the setback saying, “It’s a part of football. Occasionally, such outcomes occur, and it’s regrettable. This premature exit in the tournament’s initial round is disappointing.”

Expressing good wishes to Kano Pillars, he stated, “We must now redirect our attention to the league, while also seeking the understanding of our fans for our subpar performance in the Federation Cup.”
