“NPA MD, Bello-Koko: Traffic congestion at port corridors is a global shame”

Mohammed Bello-Koko, the head of the Nigerian Ports Authority, expressed his concern over the severe traffic congestion plaguing port access roads, labeling it as a matter of international disgrace that is obstructing operational efficiency.

He emphasized the urgent need for collaboration among industry stakeholders to address the persistent gridlock issues on these crucial routes.

Bello-Koko underscored the NPA’s unwavering commitment to ensuring smooth traffic flow within port vicinities, emphasizing that this stance was not a casual decision.

“The port access roads serve as vital international passages. Thus, any traffic congestion on these critical routes not only hinders port functionality but also tarnishes our global reputation. It is paramount for all parties involved to join forces in a sustainable effort to combat this challenge,” Bello-Koko articulated.

Highlighting that the root causes of the congestion lie beyond the NPA’s direct control, Bello-Koko asserted that as the primary gateway to the nation’s economy, the authority bears the responsibility to lead the charge in addressing this pressing issue.
