Notorious Osun Thug Faces Charges in Abuja Court

The Osun State Police Command has disclosed that Olabode Owoeye, also known as Bode Itaapa, a suspect in armed robbery, has been brought before a court.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba, confirmed this development.

CP Umar Abba stated that the 32-year-old Owoeye is facing a five-count charge related to conspiracy, armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and murder at the Federal High Court in Abuja, under charge number FHC/ABJ/CR/323/2024.

According to the statement, “The Osun State Police Command wants to inform the public, especially the residents of Osun State, that the apprehended suspect, Olabode Owoeye, a.k.a. Bode Itaapa, has been arraigned in court at the Federal High Court in Abuja with charge number FHC/ABJ/CR/323/2024 on five counts.”

“It should be noted that Olabode Owoeye, a.k.a. Bode Itaapa, was one of the suspects arrested and presented to the public by the Osun State Police Command at the Police Headquarters in Osogbo for various offenses before the case was transferred to Abuja as per the directive of the Inspector General of Police (IGP),” the statement continued.

Reports from NewsNow indicated that Owoeye was arrested and presented by the police in early July 2024.

During police questioning, he confessed to being a political thug for Sanya Omirin, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and House of Representatives member for Ijesa South Federal Constituency.

Meanwhile, CP Umar Abba reassured the state’s residents of their safety and security, emphasizing the Command’s relentless efforts to capture and prosecute those involved in serious crimes in the state to ensure Osun State remains a safe haven.
