Notice of Strike Issued by ASUU Gombe State University

Within the ASUU Gombe State University branch, a two-week ultimatum has been given to the state government and the university’s management to address the union’s concerns. Failure to meet these demands within the stipulated time frame may lead the union to explore other avenues.

During their congress meeting on March 28, 2024, the branch’s chairman, Dr. Suleiman Jauro, and Dr. M. Muhammad expressed worry about the economic conditions in the state, particularly the impact on members who have yet to receive their salaries.

The resolution highlights the dissatisfaction with the university’s administration for neglecting the staff’s well-being, leading to a decline in morale among the academic staff. The congress identified key issues such as the overdue Earned Academic Allowance spanning from 2015/2016 to 2023, as well as the outstanding promotions and arrears for 2020, 2021, and 2022.

If these issues are not addressed within the specified two-week period, the union may resort to other legitimate courses of action to press for their demands. The resolution emphasizes the union’s willingness to pursue alternative options if the university fails to act on the listed grievances.
