NiMet Predicts 3-Day Weather Patterns of Thunderstorms and Sunshine

Forecasting a mix of thunderstorms and sunshine from Sunday to Tuesday, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has provided weather outlook across the country.

In its released weather forecast in Abuja, NiMet anticipates sunny skies on Sunday, with some clouds expected in the northern regions during the morning hours.

Isolated thunderstorms are likely over Kaduna and Taraba, while hazy conditions may persist in parts of Yobe and Borno States later in the day, according to the agency.

The North Central region is expected to experience cloudy skies during the morning hours, with intervals of sunshine. In the afternoon and evening, isolated thunderstorms may occur over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, Kwara, and Kogi states.

Cloudy skies with brief periods of sunshine are predicted over inland states, with chances of isolated thunderstorms in areas like Imo and Abia.

Along the coast, predominantly cloudy weather is expected, with potential thunderstorms in Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers States during the morning. By the day’s end, widespread thunderstorms are anticipated in most coastal areas.

On Monday morning, NiMet projects sunny intervals with scattered clouds over the northern region. There might be isolated thunderstorms in Kaduna and Taraba later in the day.

The North Central region is expected to have a mix of cloudy skies and sunshine during the morning, with a possibility of isolated thunderstorms in Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory in the afternoon and evening.

In the southern region, a cloudy start to the day is foreseen, with morning thunderstorms likely in Enugu, Abia, Imo, Cross River, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom States. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected in states like Imo, Abia, Anambra, Delta, Edo, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Osun, with widespread thunderstorms along most coastal areas.

As the forecast extends to Tuesday, NiMet predicts a mostly sunny atmosphere with patchy clouds in the north, along with chances of isolated thunderstorms in Kaduna, Adamawa, Taraba, and Bauchi states.

The North Central region may experience a mix of cloudy conditions and sunny intervals. Isolated thunderstorms are anticipated in the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, Niger, and Benue States later in the day.

Cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine are expected both inland and along the South’s coastal areas in the morning. By day’s end, isolated thunderstorms may occur in states such as Imo, Ondo, Abia, Edo, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Oyo, with widespread thunderstorms forecasted for most coastal regions.
