Committee Formed by Nigerian Government for 2024 Merit Award

With an aim to select the awardees for the 2024 award, the Federal Government has officially inaugurated the 4th National Productivity Order of Merit Award Committee, known as NPOMAC.

Mrs Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, made this announcement during the inauguration ceremony of the 13-member committee held in Abuja on Tuesday.

The primary responsibility of the 13-member committee is to identify the recipients of the upcoming NPOM Award by the National Productivity Centre (NPC).

Highlighting the significance of the occasion, Onyejeocha noted that this is the 4th committee established for this crucial national assignment since the inception of the awards in 1991.

“The selection of NPOMAC members plays a vital role in determining the awardees for this year’s NPOM award and for the forthcoming years,” she emphasized.

“A new committee had to be constituted as the previous committee was dissolved by the former Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Simon Lalong,” Onyejeocha informed the audience.

She added, “Today, we have distinguished Nigerians who have been nominated to be part of this important committee for a national task. Their nominations were based on their expertise and commitment to their responsibilities.”.

Encouraging the members, she expressed confidence in their abilities to fulfill the expectations and accomplish the challenging responsibilities ahead of them.

Stressing the importance of upholding the award’s integrity and quality, she stated, “Preserving the standards of the award is paramount and must be maintained at all costs.”

“I would like to point out that this assignment is crucial to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s Administration. The government is dedicated to unlocking the full economic potential of our country by concentrating on areas such as job creation, providing access to capital for businesses of all sizes, and ensuring inclusivity,” she elaborated.

“Other key priorities include upholding the rule of law and combating hunger, poverty, and corruption, given that productivity is fundamental to these efforts,” she further explained.
