Exciting Development: Abdul Samad Rabiu Hostel Block to be Constructed at Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State

Plans are underway for the construction of a modern hostel block at the Federal University of Technology, Minna by the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa). This noble project, spearheaded by the philanthropic efforts of Abdul Samad Rabiu (CFR, CON), Chairman of BUA Group, aims to provide contemporary hostel accommodation for undergraduate students on the university’s main campus. The proposed hostel will house 108 students along with essential amenities such as laundries, kitchenettes, common rooms, and the warden’s quarters.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Faruk Adamu Kuta, expressed delight at the University being selected as a beneficiary of the ASR Africa Tertiary Education Grant Scheme. Prof Kuta conveyed the University’s gratitude to Abdul Samad Rabiu and BUA Group, emphasizing that the new hostel block will enhance student safety by reducing their exposure to external security risks while offering comfortable on-campus living.

Dr. Ubon Udoh, the Managing Director of ASR Africa, praised the University of Minna for its esteemed reputation as one of the top universities in Nigeria and globally recognized by Webometrics. He commended the university’s commitment to student security amidst various institutional challenges. Dr. Udoh highlighted the significance of the hostel project in facilitating the university’s consolidation of temporary accommodations onto the main campus. He urged students to responsibly utilize the state-of-the-art facilities provided in the new hostel block.

The hostel design features apartment-style accommodations where each room is equipped with en-suite bath and water closet facilities. This setup promotes hygiene and instills a sense of responsibility among students, aligning with the university’s objectives for student development and well-being.
