Nigerian Government Declares Public Holidays for Easter

Friday, 29th March and Monday, 1st April have been declared as public holidays by the Federal Government to observe Good Friday and Easter Monday.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the holidays on behalf of the Federal Government, encouraging Christians and all Nigerians to reflect on the sacrifice and love demonstrated by Jesus Christ during the redemption of humanity.

In a statement released by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the minister highlighted that Easter emphasizes values of love, forgiveness, and compassion that are crucial for fostering social cohesion and harmony.

He urged Christians to embody these virtues as they have the potential to positively impact the socio-economic development of Nigeria by promoting unity, reducing conflicts, and fostering cooperation among citizens.

The minister also appealed to Nigerians to exhibit acts of charity and generosity to support the less privileged in society, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In addition to this, he called on Nigerians to collaborate with the Tinubu administration in its efforts toward achieving sustainable development and prosperity for all.
