Expressing their disapproval, the Niger-Delta Renaissance Network criticized the baseless propaganda and misinformation surrounding former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson’s alleged interference in the governance of his successor, Governor Douye Diri, dismissing such claims as entirely false.
The group’s spokesperson, Comrade Gabriel Aniete, responded to a television commentator, Chuks Akunna, who made unsubstantiated allegations against Sen. Dickson, emphasizing his commendable efforts in maintaining peace in Bayelsa and his demonstrated restraint and tolerance.
Highlighting Sen. Dickson’s successful management of the transition in Bayelsa as a reference point for other States, Comrade Aniete lauded his approach, contrasting it with the situation in Rivers State and similar regions.
Comrade Aniete further asserted that a proper investigation into the affairs of Bayelsa would reveal the positive reception of the state’s transition process, which has been widely acclaimed as a model for harmonious relationships between Governors and their predecessors.
As evidence of the harmonious relationship between Sen. Dickson and Gov. Diri, reference was made to a statement by Gov. Diri in December, affirming the unique and unbreakable bond they share, underscoring the former governor’s support and non-interference.

Gov. Diri, during a visit to Sen. Dickson’s hometown, praised the former governor for his exemplary conduct, describing their relationship as cordial and beneficial to the state’s peace and development.
He expressed gratitude for Sen. Dickson’s support in his emergence as successor and the governorship election, emphasizing the absence of a godfather-like influence from the former governor.
To deter divisive elements seeking to sow discord, the group called for Gov. Diri to remain resolute against such schemes and acknowledged Sen. Dickson’s commitment to peace and stability in the region.
Commending Sen. Dickson’s contributions across various roles in the South South, the Niger-Delta Renaissance Network announced plans to honor him and urged the public to disregard malicious propaganda aimed at tarnishing his image.
Stressing that Gov. Diri is unaware of such malicious campaigns, Comrade Aniete cautioned against the influence of mercenaries and fifth columnists seeking to profit from creating unrest.
