Netanyahu warns that he will not continue with the agreement if Hamas does not reveal the names of the hostages who will be released

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned the Hamas movement that will not proceed with the plan to implement the ceasefire in Gaza this Sunday until it receives from the Palestinian organization a concrete list with the Israeli hostages that must be released as part of the pact.

“We will not move forward with the plan until we receive the list of those kidnapped who will be released, as agreed. Israel will not tolerate violations of the agreement. The only responsibility lies with Hamas,” the prime minister’s office stated this Saturday.

The ceasefire, which In principle it will come into force this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. of the Palestinian enclave (6.30 GMT), will have several phases. In the first, which will last for a period of 42 days, the green light will be given for the entry of humanitarian aid and fuel to the entire Gaza Strip and the rehabilitation of hospitals.

Hamas should gradually free a total of 33 Israeli hostages in exchange for Israel’s release of more than a thousand Palestinian prisoners. Likewise, it is expected that during the development of these actions, the parties will specify the details of a second and third phase.

A “temporary” ceasefire

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described the first phase of the armistice agreement as a “temporary ceasefire” and has warned that Israel will not stop until it achieves all the objectives set for the war in the Gaza Strip.

Israel will not rest “until all his war objectives are completed”Netanyahu stressed in a public speech reported by ‘The Times of Israel’ in which he stressed that both the outgoing US president, Joe Biden, and the incoming one, Donald Trump, have assured that Israel could return to the fight in Gaza if the next phases of the agreement are not met.

The United States has promised Israel, as Netanyahu recalled, that it will have all the weapons necessary to go back to war if necessary and if this happens, it will do so “in new forms and with very great power.”
