Nasarawa Police Apprehend Alleged Kidnappers

In Mararaba, the Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully captured three individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping.

The arrested individuals, Babangida Abdullahi (29), Mohammed Abubakar (27), and Yakubu Sani (30), all inhabitants of Aso B Mararaba, Karu LGA, purportedly collaborated to abduct Ibrahim Idris, who happens to be an uncle to one of the suspects.

According to a statement by Nasarawa’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the suspects menaced Idris with threats of kidnapping unless he paid a sum of N2 million.

Idris, out of fear of being abducted, complied with the demand and left the specified amount at a designated location as instructed by the suspects.

Following the handover, the suspects retrieved the money and split it among themselves.

“The suspects allegedly orchestrated a plan and reached out to one Ibrahim Idris, an uncle of one of the suspects, residing at the same location.

“Through intimidation, they demanded a ransom totaling Two Million Naira.

“In fear of abduction, the victim fulfilled the monetary demand set by the suspects at their preferred spot. Subsequently, the suspects collected the ransom and divided it amongst themselves,” as mentioned by Nansel in the official press release referencing Ref. number AZ:5250/NAS/PRD/VOL.2/68.

The Police Public Relations Officer affirmed that the detained suspects have admitted to their involvement in the crime, and investigations are ongoing to capture another individual connected to the syndicate who narrowly evaded arrest.
