NANS calls for immediate removal of NNPCL GMD and Power Minister due to fuel scarcity and poor power supply

In the midst of Nigerians facing inconsistent power supply and fuel shortages, the Bauchi Axis chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has joined the chorus demanding the ousting of the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari.

During a protest at the Bauchi Press Centre on Tuesday, the Association voiced its concerns.

Speaking to the press, the North East Coordinator of the protest, Mohammed Sani Hassan, expressed disappointment in the failure of these key government officials to adequately fulfill their duties, resulting in heightened hardships for the populace, particularly impacting students.

He emphasized, “The transportation to our respective campuses has become extremely difficult. We, as students, are bearing the brunt of this hardship. If they are incapable of providing a lasting solution to this issue, they should be relieved of their positions to pave the way for capable individuals to manage these institutions.”

“Buhari’s eight-year tenure was only filled with promises, and this current administration seems to be following suit. Despite our optimism, the prevailing hardship is taking a toll on us,” he added.

Also contributing, Usman Abubakar Mansur, the Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee of NANS, Bauchi Axis, highlighted the urgent need to address the economic challenges in the country.

“The rising prices of essential goods, combined with the ongoing electricity scarcity and high electricity tariffs, have imposed an unbearable burden on the Nigerian populace,” he noted.

“This challenging situation directly hampers students’ ability to engage effectively in their education and contributes to a general decline in our quality of life.

“As representatives of the student community in Bauchi State, we are unwavering in our commitment to championing the rights and welfare of students nationwide,” he reiterated.

“We call on the Federal Government to pay heed to our plea for immediate intervention to mitigate the economic adversities faced by our people and to secure a brighter future for the youths of Nigeria,” he appealed.
