More than 20 Nigerian Medical and Dental students abducted by gunmen in Benue

Reports confirm that a group of gunmen has kidnapped over 20 medical and dental students along with a House Officer in Benue State.

The students were on their way to the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) in Enugu when the abduction occurred.

Hailing from the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, the students were traveling in a group when they were ambushed by the gunmen in the Otukpo area of the state, around 5:30 p.m.

SP Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, has confirmed the incident and mentioned that an investigation into the abduction has been initiated.

Confirming the event, SP Catherine Anene stated, “The report of the kidnapping incident is accurate. We received the report between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and an investigation is currently underway.”
