Monarch-elect, Ogbonna foresees disruptive innovations with Enugu Electricity Law and others

Chief Aloysius Chidozie Ogbonna Jnr, the incoming traditional ruler of Ogugu Ntu-egbenese Ancient Kingdom in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, praised the recent passage of several bills by the State House of Assembly, including the Enugu State Electricity Bill.

This bill, now enacted into law, resulted in the establishment of the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC).

Following this development, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) transferred regulatory oversight to the EERC, as announced here: NERC transfer oversight to EERC.

During a visit to the State House of Assembly complex to meet with the Speaker, Rt Hon Uche Ugwu, Chief Ogbonna commended the harmonious relationship between the executive and the parliament, noting its positive impact on the state’s governance.

He acknowledged the proactive nature of the 8th Assembly in enacting laws aimed at propelling Enugu State to greater heights within the African continent.

Chief Ogbonna highlighted the significance of bills like the New Enugu City Development Agency Law, Enugu State Geographical Information System Service Law, Enugu State Independence Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) Amendment Law, and the Enugu State Electricity Law, emphasizing their role in ushering in disruptive innovations for the state.

Expressing his gratitude, Chief Ogbonna commended the Speaker for his effective leadership, steering the State House of Assembly to remarkable legislative accomplishments despite having members from different political parties.

He took the opportunity to acknowledge Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his support in resolving the longstanding leadership crisis in the Ogugu Ntu-egbenese Ancient Kingdom.

In response, Speaker Ugwu thanked Chief Ogbonna for the encouraging words, stating the commitment of the Assembly under his stewardship to support initiatives that benefit Enugu State.

He also congratulated Chief Ogbonna on his selection as the traditional ruler of his community and commended the community for its unified resolution of the leadership crisis.

Speaker Ugwu emphasized the importance of unity in achieving progress, likening the Assembly to a cohesive team working towards the common good of the state.

He highlighted the collective effort required to make Enugu State a standout destination in Africa, expressing confidence in the transformative vision under Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s administration.
